Jao Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana
Jao is centrally located in the permanent Delta on a private concession west of Mombo. Although built from canvas, Jao is about as far from a tented camp as you could feasibly get. Wide-fronted rooms each with large baths have large concertinad glass doors that open on to an open deck, in turn looking over the lush vegetation and the waters of the Delta.
The camp has been carefully designed and laid out and the overall impression is one of style, quality and indulgence. This is assisted by the in-house spa where you can purge your weary muscles of safari-induced aches and revitalise your complexion with Africa spread out in front of you. The camp also offers a wine cellar, and enchanting decks for outdoor dining in style.
Jao offers the full range of land and water-based activities including boating in glass-bottom mokoros, game & night drives, walks and fishing. 'Siesta activities' include mokoro-poling, candle and papermaking or talks can be arranged for the restless. Jao suits those who are looking for an exclusive, remote and utterly decadent experience with all the trimmings but still want to be able to get the full measure of Okavango excitement.
