"Safari", the Swahili word for "journey" began with the British in the late 19th century. The first safaris were news-making events whereby returning explorers were heralded as heroes and often knighted for their accomplishments. The Specialised Safari Company continues the traditions of the classic Hemingway safari of the 1930s, offering exclusive luxury safaris with the comforts and refinements of the 21st Century. Get close to nature in true style, staying under canvas surrounded by the mysteries of this vast African wilderness.

Itineraries
East Africa offers a wealth of safari opportunities and a tailor-made safari allows the visitor the chance to explore those opportunities to the full. We combine the best game areas for the different times of year with activities chosen by you, that cater to the ages and interests of your group. From the familiar National parks and Reserves to the more obscure and undiscovered areas, from popular game lodges to exclusive game ranches, from private charters to camel back safaris. Luxury tented camps
Our style of traditional tented safari, staying in camps that are private and exclusive for you and your party, is the most enjoyable and exciting way too see Africa. Our camps are well off the beaten track in our favorite areas, enabling us to enjoy bush dinners amongst the animals, beautiful sundowners high up on rocky outcrops, out after dark on night game drives, to name a few. Luxurious and spacious, our tents are unparalleled in their comfort.
Hosts
Much of the fun of going on safari comes from your interaction with the guides who are hand picked to suit your group and are dedicated to giving you the safari of a lifetime. Born and raised in East Africa our guides have an intimate knowledge of the people and the wildlife. Fully hosted by Tanya who supervises the day to day running of camps, cuisine, presentation and table décor. You will be met at the airport upon your arrival and hosted for the duration of your safari.
Game drives and transportation
Transport is in our own custom made four wheel drive vehicles each carrying a maximum of four guests. You have the option of driving or flying by private charter or scheduled flights.
Lodges
We use exclusive lodges and private luxury family homes that have their own unique rustic design, with only 6 to 20 beds, and run by personal family friends.
Marketing
At the end of January and into February we visit Europe and the United States and personally meet you at your home or office prior to your safari, to help you plan and answer the many questions that always arise before such an exciting trip. This interaction helps to tailor each safari to the individual client and depending on the ages and interest of individuals within your group- we tailor the itinerary and guides accordingly.
